Both the Director and Curator of the Colonial Williamsburg Department of Architectural Research served as consultants on the restoration.

The Bowling Green Farm manor house is remarkable for many reasons including that fact that it has remained almost entirely unchanged and is, as such, one of the oldest houses in original condition in the Commonwealth. Original hardware, glass and window sash, flooring, plasterwork and a colonial basement all remain. Two astonishing features are an 18th century roof section and the original NW rear dormer of the main house that were encapsulated when the rear addition was added and viewable through a 7-foot interior window.

Bowling Green Farm played a major role in the introduction of colonial horseracing to the U.S. and was host to numerous visits by President George Washington and the Marquis de Lafayette. Colonial-era garden features still remaining include the massive English boxwood on either side of the house, estimated to be over 270 years old, two levels of garden terraces and the eastern cedars lining the ¼ mile oval drive leading to the house.</description>
